Veterinarians
Denise M Lindley, DVM, MS
Dr. Lindley received her BS in 1983, and DVM in 1985 from the University of Illinois.
She completed an internship in small animal surgery and medicine in 1986 at Auburn University and a residency in comparative ophthalmology in 1989. That same year she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. Also in 1989, Dr. Lindley joined the clinical faculty at Purdue University as assistant professor of comparative ophthalmology and was section chief until January 1994. Dr. Lindley earned a master’s degree in veterinary ophthalmology in 1990.
Animal Eye Consultants first opened in July 1990 on a part-time basis and became full-time in 1994. Dr. Lindley is available in the Elgin, Crestwood and Naperville offices.
Helga Kecova, DVM, PhD
Veterinary Ophthalmology Resident
Dr. Kecova was born in Prague, Czech Republic. She graduated from The University Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic in 2000 and obtained her DVM. After graduation, she stayed at the University as a post-doctoral student and as a faculty member at the Department of Surgery where she specialized in Ophthalmology and obtained her PhD. In 2007, she started to work as a research scientist in the field of Ophthalmology at Iowa State University. Her main areas of interest included glaucoma and immune-mediated retinal diseases. From 2011-2013 she relocated to Iowa City where she worked doing research at the VA Center of Excellence for the Prevention and Treatment of Visual Loss. In 2013 she went to Houston for a Veterinary Ophthalmology Internship. From 2015-2020 she worked at a private Veterinary Ophthalmology Practice in Iowa. She joined Animal Eye Consultants in January 2021 as a Veterinary Opthalmology Resident. In her spare time, Dr, Kecova loves spending time with her family, sailing, skiing and hiking. She sees clients in the Elgin, Crestwood and Naperville locations.
William Miller, DVM, MS
Dr. Miller is a Starksville native who grew up in Louisiana. Graduating from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. He completed an internship in small animal surgery and medicine at Auburn University and stayed to complete an ophthalmlogy residency in 1986. He earned a Master of Science degree from Auburn University while completing his ophthalmology residency. He served on the faculty of Mississippi State University for 6 years before leaving as a tenured associate professor. He founded the first private veterinary referral practice in Memphis Tennessee that he later merged with other specialists to form Memphis Veterinary Specialists. He has over 80 scientific publications. His research interests include corneal wound healing and remote monitoring of clinical trials. He is an avid gardener and archer.
Dr. Todd Marlo, DVM, MS
Veterinary Ophthalmologist
Originally from Marion, Illinois, Dr. Marlo graduated from Southern Illinois
University in 2009. Following SIU, Dr. Marlo graduated with his veterinary degree
from the University of Illinois in 2013. He then went on to do both a rotating
internship and residency at the University of Missouri, and he achieved board
certification in 2018. Following Missouri, he went to Chattanooga, TN for several
years prior to moving back to the Midwest. In his free time Dr. Marlo is an avid outdoorsman.
Stephanie Straw, DVM
Veterinary Ophthalmology Intern
Dr. Straw graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2017. She went on to receive her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University in 2023. Dr. Straw went on to complete a Small Animal Rotating Internship with West Vet Animal Emergency & Specialty Center in Boise, Idaho. Dr. Straw joined Animal Eye Consultants in July of 2024 as a Veterinary Ophthalmology Intern. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, and exploring new areas with friends and her dog.
Katy Uribe, DVM
Veterinary Ophthalmology Intern
Dr. Uribe graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Scientific Illustration, a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and a minor in Chemistry in 2018. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2023. Dr. Uribe then went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Tennessee. She joined Animal Eye Consultants in July of 2024 as a Veterinary Ophthalmology Intern. In her spare time Dr. Uribe enjoys painting, going outdoors, baking, and spending time with friends and family.

Brandi
Brandi has been with Animal Eye Consultants since 2011 and a dog groomer for 10 years. She has 4 cats Cheddar, Snowey, Captain and Snickers and has grown up with animals her whole life. She also enjoys the outdoors and sports.
Bruce
Bruce has been with Animal Eye Consultants since 2007. He is a doting father to twin children, Clare and Shane. They have a cat named Snowflake and two guinea pigs named Tipsy and Angel. His hobbies include custom picture framing and artistic painting.
Christine
Practice Manager
Christine is the Practice Manager at Animal Eye Consultants and has been working with Dr. Lindley since 1993. When she's not at work she enjoys boating, fishing, reading, and going to her son's many sporting events. Her pets include a mini long-haired Dachshund named Mazzy, a Basset Hound named Stoney, two cats, named Romeo and Vladamir, Mortis and Lizzy Borden the tortoises, and a lizard named Nitro.
Danette
Danette has been with Animal Eye Consultants since 2010. She has a golden retriever named Sandy and two cats Pirate and Wilma. Her hobbies include swimming with Sandy in Lake Michigan.
Dawn
Dawn has been with Animal Eye Consultants since 2006. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her family and watching her sons play sports.
Gabby
Gabby has been with Animal Eye Consultants since 2003. She enjoys working with animals she has a horse and two Australian Shepherd's whom she loves dearly. She enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors.
Michalla
Michalla has been with Animal Eye Consultants since mid-2019. She is actively working towards a bachelor's degree in biology and plans to become a veterinarian. She has four ferrets! Two boys, Zeus and Apollo, and two girls Athena and Venus. In her free time, you will find her painting, reading, and studying.
Sarah
Sarah has been working with animals since 1997 and specifically in veterinary medicine since 2006. She has 4 dogs, one of which has been blind since birth and a cat. She loves listening to music, mostly metal and rock, going to concerts, and painting knickknacks.
